"Have a Blast with Glass- Float Glass & Verre Eglomise"

1/23/09-1/25/09:  GLASTAR WORKSHOP - Chatsworth CA  

Taught by Peggy Pettigrew Stewart, with Keith Jones & Jean Lutz

This fabulous workshop is being taught at the Glastar Factory in Southern California.  Not only will you get to use (and learn to use) the state-of-the-art equipment, you will also be able to tour the factory, meet Lori Mitchell the President, and see all the new equipment that will be on the market in the near future.  The workshop is inside, but in a beautiful area of Southern California. Burbank Airport and hotels are close by.  Call us and we will help you with reservations in the area.

"Have a Blast with Glass- Float Glass & Verre Eglomise" with  PEGGY PETTIGREW STEWART, KEITH JONES & JEAN LUTZ.  This is a rare opportunity to work with these three master glass artists.  Each student will learn sandblasting, sandcarving and the beautiful Verre Eglomise technique  of reverse (intaglio) carving.  This technique will also introduce each student to the art of intaglio painting and inlay of copper, gold or silver metals.  This process can be used to make beautiful bowls, vessels, sculpture, furniture, tables, sinks, and much more!  We will be working with the kiln and some fusing too.   No experience is required. However this class is suitable for anyone with or without experience. The "River To The Sea" vessel (above) is a sample of Verre Eglomise and the intaglio carving.  Class size is limited. Learn to make beautiful art pieces, vessels even sinks & tables!  Three days of workshop, with three instructors.  Lots of time with the equipment and instructors.

Each student will take home a minimum of four completed pieces, including at least one (or more) major piece (18").  This process is the first class of some beautiful ways of creating glass art: functional, fine art, crafts and more.  The technique can be combined with fused or cast glass.  It can be used on ANY type of glass too.  This is a technique that will change your glass art forever.  And yes, you can use this process to make large vessels, and even sinks.  Furniture too!  Small things work too................

Three full days of workshop, factory tours, materials, samples, and side trips, three instructors and lots of work time.  Price:  $700.  Some scholarships & discounts are available, call us for details.

Recycled Glass,  Wine bottles & more "  taught by JEAN LUTZ.  Jean is an incredible glass & ceramics artist.  She will have you Fusing, slumping, cutting, grinding, sandblasting wonderful recycled glass. Recycle your glass bottles into functional and decorative items.  You will have an opportunity to learn and use techniques that include: sandblasting, drilling holes, glass paints, kiln forming and more.

PEGGY PETTIGREW STEWART is the director and principal of the studio.  Her work has been featured in numerous magazines. You can find her unique glass art in the fine art galleries around the USA. Most recently her piece "Windtalker" was juried into the prestigous "Live Auction" at the Glass Art Society International Conference in St Louis (June 2006).  Her work has been featured in several publications and on television recently. Scottsdale Magazine (Extrodinary ordinary women), Arizona Republic-Scottsdale edition, Desert Advocate, Sonoran Living (ABC 15) Television show, Arizona Business Journal "Focus On Luxury", Southwest Art Magazine, Crafts Report, and others.

This beautiful hotel is being brought to life with a new focus and passion!The Cultural & Destination Activities Center at the Carefree Resort is where you will find our studio and workshop.
